There’s no mistaking Augsburg when you see them play. From the outset, their trademark purple and black kit is recognisable, and the fans in their home stadium are really into it.
Augsburg was founded in 1899, and from their first season in the Bundesliga, they were a force to be reckoned with. Despite finishing in the bottom three of their division in their first season, they managed to improve massively in the next two, and in 2006 they were promoted to the Bundesliga.
Augsburg play an attacking, possession-based style of football, and their homeground, the Audi Sportpark, is one of the biggest in Germany. They’ve had some great players over the years, including the likes of Thomas Müller, Manuel Neuer and Stefan Kießling.
The future looks bright for Augsburg, and they’re aiming to make it back into the Bundesliga and beyond. If they can keep their talented squad together and continue to play good football, they have a good chance of success.
