Blackburn Rovers are an English association football club based in Blackburn, Lancashire. The club was formed in 1875 as Blackburn St Andrews and played in the Football League from 1896 to 1992. They were elected to the Premier League in the 1992–93 season and have played in the top division of English football ever since. The club has won the League Cup twice, in 1896 and 1959. The club have also reached the FA Cup final twice, in 1894 and 1895. The club played its first competitive match in November 1875 and was disbanded in 1879 due to financial difficulties. Blackburn Rovers were re-formed in 1875 and played their first match in November 1875. Blackburn Rovers became founder members of the Football League in 1896. The club played its final match in the Football League in 1992.
