Burnley Football Club is a professional association football club located in the town of Burnley, Lancashire, England. Formed in 1878, Burnley have competed in the top tier of English football since the 1920s, and have never been relegated from the Premier League. The club’s home ground since 1920 has been Turf Moor.
The team is managed by Sean Dyche and captained by Robbie Brady. Burnley’s most successful period came in the 1970s and early 1980s, when they reached the final of the FA Cup twice, winning in 1979. They also reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup in 1983 and were league runners-up in 1987. However, attendance and club debts began to reduce Burnley’s resources, and they were relegated from the Premier League in 2000. They were promoted back to the top flight in 2004 and have since played in the Championship. In 2011, they reached the FA Cup final, losing to Manchester City.
