Edinburgh Football Club, nicknamed The Dark Blues, is a Scottish Professional Football Club based in Edinburgh. The club was formed in 1873 and played its first match in May 1875. Edinburgh played its first Scottish Cup match in 1892 and won the competition for the first time in 1902. The club reached the Scottish Cup Final in 1923 and 1949, but lost both times. Edinburgh reached the Scottish Championship final in 1935, but lost to Rangers. The club reached the Scottish Cup semifinal in 1972 and 1975, but lost both times to Rangers. Edinburgh won the Scottish First Division in 1990 and were promoted to the Scottish Premier Division. The club were relegated in 1996 and reached the Scottish Premier Division relegation play-offs in 2001, but were defeated by Aberdeen. Edinburgh were promoted to the Scottish Premier Division in 2002 and won the league in 2003. The club reached the Scottish Cup Final in 2007, but lost to Rangers. Edinburgh reached the Scottish League Cup Final in 2013 and won the tournament for the first time.
