FC Koln, formerly known as 1. FC Koln, is a professional football club based in Cologne, Germany. The club was formed in 1909 and played its first competitive match in 1912. FC Koln has been playing in the Bundesliga, Germany’s top football league, since the 2004–05 season. Koln’s home ground is the RheinEnergieStadion. The team is captained by Matthias Lehmann. FC Koln also has a women’s team, which was founded in 2009.
