A team that has spent a majority of its existence playing in the Belgian Pro League, Gent is no stranger to success in domestic football. The Purple and Whites have won the Belgian Cup twice, as well as the Belgian Super Cup, and they have also lifted the Belgian Championship on two occasions. In terms of European football, Gent have reached the UEFA Cup twice, most recently in 2008. In the 2005–06 season, Gent reached the semi-finals of the Champions League, where they were narrowly beaten by Feyenoord Rotterdam. With an overall record of 338 wins, 178 draws, and 158 losses, Gent fans can dream of much more success in the future.
