The Gloucester City Football Club is a football club based in Gloucester, England. They are currently members of the National League, which is the fifth tier of English football.
The club was founded in 1877, and played their first interception football match in 1879. They joined the Western League in 1889, and finished as champions in 1896. They joined the Southern League in 1900, and finished as runners-up in 1903. They were admitted to the Football League in 1920. The club played in the Third Division South for the majority of their time in the League, before being relegated in 1958. They were relegated to the Fourth Division in 1965, and were placed in the hands of a local tribunal in 1971. They were relegated to the Eastern League in 1974, and were insolvent in 1986. They were re-admitted to the Football League in 1989, and were placed in the Central League. They finished as champions of the Central League in 1998, and were promoted to the Football League Division One. The club were relegated back to the Football League Division Two in 2003, and were insolvent again in 2006. The club were re-admitted to the Football League in 2007, and were relegated to the Football Conference in 2010. The club were relegated to the National League in 2014.
