Sochaux is a French football club based in the city of Sochaux. The club was founded in 1910 and played its first competitive season in 1911. Sochaux has played in the top division of French football for all but three of the past ninety-eight seasons, and currently competes in Ligue 1. Sochaux has also competed in European competition a number of times, most notably in the UEFA Cup and the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup. Sochaux has had a long-standing rivalry with Marseille, with the two clubs competing in the Coupe de France every season.
