Torquay United Football Club, nicknamed The Gulls, is a professional association football club based in Torquay, Devon, England. The club was formed in 1889 and played its first recorded match in 1891. The club enjoyed its most successful era in the 1950s, winning the Southern League twice, the FA Cup once, and being runners-up of the Football League twice. Torquay United were relegated from the Football League in 2004 and have played in the Conference Premier since 2007. The club play their home matches at Plainmoor Stadium.
