Valletta FC is an internationally renowned football club based in Valletta, the capital city of Malta. The club was formally founded in 1908, although its origins can be traced to the formation of a football club known as Victoria in 1885. Valletta reached the final of the Maltese Cup in 1973 and went on to win the competition in 1974. The team has also appeared in the UEFA Cup twice, in 1984 and 1988. Valletta FC has also competed in the UEFA Europa League twice, in the 2001-02 and 2006-07 seasons. The club’s home ground is the National Stadium.
