Bangu is an Angolan football club based in Luanda. The club was founded in 1947 and played its first ever competitive match in the 1948 championship. The club achieved promotion to the top tier of Angolan football in 1963. Bangu has played in the top tier of Angolan football every season since 1963 except for 1983 and 2008. The club has never finished outside the top six in the league. Bangu has won the Angolan championship six times (1958, 1960, 1964, 1970, 1978, 1997). The club has also won the 1975 and 1978 depicts. Bangu has also reached the semi-finals of the African Champions League twice (1983 and 2001).
