Ind. Medellin was founded in 1948. The club has won many titles, including Colombian Cup, two South American Championships, four Colombian Cups, and two CONCACAF Champions League titles. The club has also reached the knockout stages of the Champions League three times. Ind. Medellin is considered one of the most successful Colombian football clubs.

The club’s home ground is the Estadio Atanasio Girardot, which has a capacity of 46,000. The club’s fans are known as “Los Pipitos” (The Sparrows). Ind. Medellin plays its domestic matches in the Colombian Liga.
