Jong Utrecht is a football club from the Netherlands, who play their home games at the AFAS Stadion. The club was founded on 8 April 1912 as AFC Ajax, a merger of two clubs, AJ in Amsterdam and CFC in Utrecht. Ajax won the Dutch championship in 1929 and 1937, and the Eredivisie championship in 1954 and 1955. Ajax also won the KNVB Cup in 1957. The club reached the final of the European Cup in 1971, but was defeated by Liverpool. In 1986, Ajax became the first Dutch club to reach the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League, where they were defeated by Barcelona. In 1992, the club reached the final of the Intercontinental Cup, but were defeated by River Plate. In 2002, Ajax won their first Eredivisie championship in 29 years. They also reached the Dutch Cup final that same year, but lost to PSV. In 2003, the club reached the Champions League semi-finals, but were beaten by Liverpool. In 2006, the club reached the Champions League final, but were beaten by Chelsea. In 2007, the club reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup, but were beaten by Liverpool. In 2009, the club reached the final of the Dutch Cup, but lost to Feyenoord. In 2011, the club reached the final of the Dutch Cup, but lost to Ajax. In 2012, the club reached the Champions League semi-finals, but were beaten by Manchester United.
