KV Mechelen is an association football club from Mechelen, Belgium. KV Mechelen was formed in 1908 and has played in the Belgian First Division ever since. The club colours are red and black. KV Mechelen plays its home matches at the Jan Breydel Stadium.
Before the season started, KV Mechelen sacked their manager after a poor start to the season. With a new manager, the team quickly turned things around and ended up in 5th place. They qualified for the knock-out stages of the Belgian Cup where they were eliminated in the quarter finals by R.S.C. Anderlecht.
The season finished with a disappointing 5th place finish in the Belgian First Division. KV Mechelen’s goal for the season was to qualify for the Champions League, but they were narrowly defeated in the race for 3rd place by their rival R.F.C. Anderlecht.
