Leiria Football Club, founded in 1971, is a Portuguese professional football club based in the city of Leiria. The club plays in the Primeira Liga, the top division of Portuguese football. Leiria is the only Portuguese club ever to be relegated from the top division, which it did in 2006. The club also reached the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League in 2004, which is its only major European title. Leiria is owned by the Leiria Municipal Council.
