Malaga Football Club is a Spanish football club based in Malaga. Founded in 1925, the club has played its home games at La Rosaleda since 1977. The club has competed in the top division of Spanish football since the 1932–33 season, and has won the Copa del Generalísimo twice (1939 and 1975). Malaga also reached the semi-final of the UEFA Cup in 2006 and the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League in 2010. The team played its first ever competitive match on 2 November 1925 against Arenas Club de Getxo. Malaga played its last ever competitive match on 28 March 2015 against Cultural y Deportiva Leonesa. After 88 years in the top flight, Malaga were relegated to La Liga in the 2009–10 season. They reached the Copa del Rey final in 2006 and the UEFA Champions League semi-finals in 2010, but lost on both occasions to Barcelona and Real Madrid.
