Nurnberg is a professional German football club based in Nuremburg, Bavaria. The club was formed in 1919 and played its first competitive match in 1920. They first reached the top flight of German football in 1933 and have since played in the Bundesliga, the second tier of German football, on 38 occasions. Their biggest success came in the 2006–07 season, when they finished runners-up in the Bundesliga, losing in the championship play-off final to Schalke 04. The club colours are blue and white.
