Ostrava

Ostrava are a football club from Ostrava, Czech Republic. They were founded in 1919 and play in the Czech First League. They reached the second division in 2006 but were relegated the following season. In 2007 Ostrava finished fifth in the second division, earning promotion. They finished the 2007–08 Czech First League in fourth position, qualifying for the 2008–09 UEFA Champions League. Ostrava were drawn in Group G along with Ajax, Shakhtar Donetsk and Spartak Moscow. In their first group stage game, Ostrava lost 3–2 at home to Ajax. In their second group stage game, Ostrava drew 1–1 with Shakhtar Donetsk. Ostrava’s only win in the group came in their final game against Spartak Moscow, 4–0. After finishing fourth in their group, Ostrava were eliminated from the Champions League.
