The football club known as Port Vale Football Club is based in the town of Port Vale in North Lincolnshire, England. The club was formed in 1876 and played their first competitive match in 1877. They initially played in the Midland Football Alliance, before joining the Football League in 1894. The club was relegated from the Football League in 1922, but lasted until being expelled from the league in 1961. The club played in the Northern Premier League between 1984 and 1995, before being relegated to the Conference National. The club was relegated from the Conference National in 2010, and currently plays in the National League North.
