Sakhnin SC is an Israeli football club from Sakhnin, located in the eastern Sharon region. The club was formed in 1936 and has been in the Liga Leumit, the top division of Israeli football, since its establishment. The club’s home ground is the Sakhnin Stadium.
Sakhnin SC’s greatest achievement has been reaching the Israeli Cup final on four occasions (1975, 1977, 1979, 1981). The club has also reached the Israeli Premier League semi-finals on two occasions (1968 and 1982), but has failed to reach the final. The club has also reached the Israeli Cup third-round stage on three occasions (1981, 1983, 1984).
Sakhnin SC’s most famous player is Eyal Berkovic, who spent most of his career with the club. Berkovic is the all-time leading goalscorer for Sakhnin SC with 160 goals in 395 appearances. Other well-known Sakhnin SC players include Yoav Yadin, former Israeli international footballer and manager, and Nimrod Shefa, former Israeli international footballer and current manager of Liga Leumit club Hapoel Kfar Saba.
