Sao Bento is a Portuguese club based in the city of Porto. The club was founded on 28 November 1912. They currently compete in the Primeira Liga, the top tier of Portuguese football. The club’s colours are blue and white. The current president of the club is Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa. The club played its first ever game against Celtic on 4 December 1912, losing 2–0. Sao Bento reached the Portuguese Cup Final in the 1951–52 season, but lost to Benfica. However, they reached the final again in the 1955–56 season and reached the semi-finals in 1963–64, 1967–68 and 1968–69. The club reached the Portuguese cup final for the third time in 1974–75, but lost to Porto. The club was relegated from the Primeira Liga in the 2003–04 season, but returned to the top flight after two seasons. The club reached the Portuguese Cup Final for the fourth time in 2007–08, where they lost to Sporting CP.
