Slavia Prague football club, commonly known as Slavia Prague, is a professional football club based in the Czech Republic. It was formed on 5 May 1919 as TJ Slavia Prague, and played its first competitive match in the Czechoslovak First League on 7 May 1919. The club has won the Czechoslovak First League championship on six occasions, the Czech Cup twice, and the Czech Supercup twice. Slavia Prague has also played in the European Cup Winners’ Cup twice, in 1956 and 1988. In 2005, the club reached the UEFA Champions League group stage, which it reached again in 2007. After finishing in third position in the 2007–08 Czech First League, Slavia Prague reached the 2009–10 Czech Cup Final, which it lost to Sparta Prague. The following season, Slavia Prague finished as runners-up in the 2009–10 Czech First League, and reached the 2010–11 Czech Cup Final, which it won against Viktoria Plzeň.
