Varzim is a Portuguese football club based in the city of Varzim. They currently play in the Primeira Liga, the top tier of Portuguese football. The club was founded on 2 November 1914, and played their first competitive match in the Taça de Portugal on 6 December 1914 against Penafiel, losing 4–0. Varzim played in the Portuguese Championships for the first time in 1921, qualifying for the semi-finals. In the semi-final, Varzim played against Sporting CP and lost 2–0. Varzim competed in the Taça de Portugal again in 1922, but finished in fourth place. In 1923, Varzim competed in the Taça de Portugal for the third time and reached the final, where they played against Benfica. Varzim lost 3–1 and were runners-up in the Taça de Portugal. Varzim competed in the Taça de Portugal again in 1924, but finished in fourth place. In 1925, Varzim competed in the Taça de Portugal for the fourth time and reached the final, where they played against Porto. Varzim lost 2–1 and were runners-up in the Taça de Portugal. Varzim contested the Taça de Portugal again in 1926, but finished in third place. In 1927, Varzim competed in the Taça de Portugal for the fifth time and reached the final, where they played against Benfica. Varzim lost 2–0 and were runners-up in the Taça de Portugal. Varzim played in the Taça de Portugal again in 1928, but finished in fourth place. Varzim competed in the Taça de Portugal for the sixth time in 1929 and reached the final, where they played against Sporting CP. Varzim lost 1–0 and were runners-up in the Taça de Portugal. In 1931, Varzim competed in the Taça de Portugal for the seventh time and reached the final, where they played against Sporting CP. Varzim lost 0–1 and were champions of the Taça de Portugal.
