Vikingur Reykjavik is a football club from Reykjavik, Iceland, that competes in the Icelandic Premier League. The club was founded in 1902 and they have played their home games at Laugardalsvöllur since 1917. The club reached their first ever European competition in 1964, when they competed in the European Cup Winners’ Cup. They reached the quarter-finals of the competition, before losing to Spanish side Valencia. The club also reached the semi-finals of the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup in 1971, before losing to Bayern Munich. They reached the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup in 1974, but were eliminated in the first round. The club has also reached the Icelandic Cup final three times, in 1954, 1988 and 2001. In 2006, the club reached the final of the Icelandic Super Cup, but they were defeated by Fram Reykjavik. In 2010, the club was PAOK FC’s first opponents in the UEFA Europa League. They reached the group stage of the competition, but were eliminated in the first round.
