The Aston Villa U21s are a football club affiliated with Aston Villa and play in the Premier League 2 – the second tier of English football. The club was formed in 2006 as a feeder club for the first team and playing in the Birmingham Premier Division. Villa reached the FA Youth Cup final in 2009 but lost to Arsenal. In 2010 Villa reached the semi-finals of the competition, where they lost to eventual winners Manchester United.
The U21s finished second in their first Premier League 2 season but lost in the play-off finals to Fulham. Villa reached the Premier League 2 final for the second time in three years in 2016 but lost 3-1 to Derby County.
