Banbury United Football Club is a football club based in Banbury, Oxfordshire, England. They are currently members of the National League, the fifth tier of English football. The club was formed in 1875 and played their first game in October of that year. Banbury United reached the FA Cup semi-finals in 1912 and 1922, earning a place in the Football League in 1923. They played in the Second Division for eight seasons before being relegated in 1935. After a successful re-organization in 1946, the club reached the First Division for the first time in their history. Banbury United remained in the top division for the next fourteen seasons, before being relegated in 1968. The club spent the next three seasons in the Second Division before being promoted to the First Division again in 1973. They remained in the top division for the next six seasons, before being relegated in 1981. Banbury United returned to the First Division in 1984 and remained in the top division until they were relegated in 1989. The club reached the FA Cup semi-finals in 1993 and 2001, earning a place in the Premier League in 2001. They were relegated in 2003 and played in the Football League Two until 2013, when they were relegated to the National League.
