Birmingham City Football Club, more commonly known as Birmingham City or simply Birmingham, is a professional football club based in Birmingham, England. The club was formed in 1875 and played its first ever football match in November 1875. Birmingham City has played in the Football League since 1888 and has represented the city in international football. The club’s traditional home ground since 1875 has been St Andrews’ Park. Birmingham City was the first English club to win the European Cup, which they did in 1966. The club’s most recent major trophy was the 2007 League Cup. Birmingham City’s main rivals are Aston Villa, who they contest the derby with, and Bolton Wanderers.
