Burgos CF is a football club from Burgos, Castile and León, Spain. The team was founded on 8 March 1926, and currently competes in La Liga, the top division of Spanish football. Burgos is historically known as one of the most successful clubs in La Liga, having won the league title on nine occasions and the Copa del Rey twice. As of July, 2019, Burgos is placed in the 20th position in the La Liga table, with 21 points.

The team’s home ground is the Estadio Nuevo Jerez, with a capacity of 12,000. Burgos’ kit consists of red and blue shirts, black shorts, and white socks. Their main sponsors are Burgos-based brewery Torres and Burgos-based financial group Bancaja. Burgos also has a fan club, the asociación de aficionados de Burgos CF, which has over 4,700 registered members.

Burgos CF was founded on 8 March 1926, in the city of Burgos, Castile and León, southeastern Spain. The club’s name is a combination of the towns of Burgos and Jerez de la Frontera, where most of the club’s players came from.

Burgos CF made its debut in the regional level, playing in Tercera División. The club quickly rose through the divisions, and in 1950 finished as runner-up in the second division, earning promotion to the first division. Burgos played its first season in the top flight in 1951–52, finishing in 12th place. The club then had a brief spell in the second division, before returning to the first division for the 1954–55 season.

In the 1960s, Burgos CF reached the cup final twice, but lost both times to Barcelona. In 1966, the club reached the final again, this time losing to Valencia. In the 1970s, Burgos battled against relegation, but maintained its place in the top flight. Burgos reached the semifinals of the Copa del Rey in 1984 and the final the following year, but both times they were defeated by Barcelona.

In the 1990s, Burgos CF experienced its most successful period. The team reached the Champions League group stage for the first time in its history in the 1990–91 season, and finished in fifth place. That same season Burgos won its first La Liga title, beating Valencia 2–1 in the final. The team repeated the championship in 1993–94, and also reached the Copa del Rey final that season, losing to Barcelona.

The following season, Burgos was knocked out of both tournaments in the first round. In the 1996–97 season, the club reached the Champions League semifinal for the second time in its history. In the semifinal, they suffered a 1–0 defeat against Inter Milan, which was their first ever
