Chelmsford City Football Club (often referred to simply as Chelmsford) is an English football club based in the city of Chelmsford, Essex. The club was founded in 1906 and played its first competitive game in 1907. Chelmsford City has played at a number of different venues in Chelmsford since its formation, but currently plays its home games at Chelmsford City Stadium, which has a capacity of 10,500. The club is affiliated to the Isthmian League and currently plays in the sixth tier of the English football league system. Chelmsford City’s most successful years came during the late 1960s and early 1970s, when they reached the fourth tier of English football and won the FA Trophy in 1969.
