Heerenveen Football Club is a Dutch professional football club based in Heerenveen. The club was formed in 1895 and currently plays in the Eredivisie, the top tier of Dutch football. The club has had a long-standing rivalry with Ajax, with whom it contest the Eredivisie annually. Heerenveen also contests the KNVB Cup and the Johan Cruyff Shield with Ajax.
