Merida AD is an all-professional football team based in the Mexican city of Merida. The club was founded in 1930 and currently plays in the Liga MX, the top tier of Mexican football. Merida AD has won the Liga MX championship twice, in 1971 and 2006. The club has also finished runner-up on two other occasions, in 1988 and 1997. Merida AD made its international debut in 1954, playing against Costa Rica. The team has since played over 100 international matches, most of them in friendly tournaments.
