Monopoli

Monopoli is a professional Italian football club located in Monopoli, Calabria. The club was founded in 1904 and played its earliest seasons in the regional leagues. Monopoli joined the Italian Serie B in 1929 and played in the top flight until the 1957–58 season, when it was relegated. The club had a brief spell in Serie C1 in 1968 and again in Serie C2 from 1984 to 1985. Monopoli reached the Coppa Italia final in 1978, but lost to Torino. In the 1990s, Monopoli played in Serie D. The club folded in 2003. Monopoli played its home games at the 16,000-seat Stadio Giuseppe Sinico.
