Utrecht Football Club is a Dutch professional football club based in the city of Utrecht. The club was formed in 1909 and competes in the Eredivisie, the top tier of Dutch football. Utrecht play their home games at the Stadion Galgenwaard.
Utrecht are one of the most successful Dutch football clubs and have won the Eredivisie twice, in 1965 and 1978. The club also reached the European Cup Winners’ Cup final in 1972 and the UEFA Cup final in 1985.
In recent years, Utrecht have struggled to keep up with the financial demands of Eredivisie football and have been relegated from the top tier of Dutch football twice in the last decade, in 2010 and 2014. Despite this, the club has consistently managed to compete in the Dutch Cup and has reached the final twice, in 2008 and 2011.
