Wigan Athletic Football Club, more commonly known as Wigan Athletic, is a professional football club based in Wigan, Greater Manchester, England. form of Association football, the club was formed in 1892 and played their first competitive match in 1893. Wigan Athletic are one of only nine clubs to have played in every season of the top four tiers of English football. In 1992, Wigan Athletic were relegated from the Premier League, but have been consistently promoted since then and in 2017, they reached the Premier League for the first time in their history. Wigan Athletic play their home games at the DW Stadium, which has a capacity of 25,000.
