Lyon

Lyon is a professional football club from Lyon, France. Founded in 1902, the club has played in the top division of French football for most of its history. Lyon achieved their first major honour in 1927, when they won the Coupe de France. They were also runners-up in the 1935 and 1938 editions of the competition. Since the 1991–92 season, Lyon have competed in the Championnat National, the third tier of French football. In the 2006–07 season, Lyon reached the semi-final of the European Cup, where they were defeated by eventual winners Barcelona. In the 2011–12 season, Lyon reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League, where they were eliminated by eventual winners Bayern Munich. The club’s traditional kit colours are blue and white.
